Today is a sad day as far Pakistan cricket is concerned. One of the finest test cricketers in the world and definitely Pakistan’s modern day legend, Younis Khan is finally retiring from International Cricket today. After making his test debut back in 1999, Younis Khan established himself as a backbone of Pakistani batting lineup ever since. First Pakistani to score 10000 runs, Triple century in Test matches, highest number of centuries by a Pakistani player, test average over 50, most number of centuries in fourth inning in the world, only Pakistani captain to lift the T20 World Cup are some on the records held by Younis Khan. Here are some of the highlights of his outstanding career.

1- Century on His Test Debut

He announced his arrival right from his first test match when he made a brilliant century against Sri Lanka in 1999. Though Pakistan lost that match but Younis made a brave inning against the likes of Murli and Chaminda Vass.

2- Double Century Against India In India

During the Pakistan tour of India, Younis Khan scored a matching winning 267 in the first inning and 84 not out in the second inning. Pakistan eventually won the match and Younis Khan won the match of the man award.

3- Triple Century Against Sri Lanka at Karachi:

During the Sri Lanka tour of Pakistan in 2009, Younis Khan became only the third Pakistani to score a Triple hundred when he played a marathon inning of 313 runs at the National Stadium Karachi. This is also the last complete test match being played in Pakistan as during the next match in Lahore, Sri Lankan team was attached by terrorists.

4- Under his Captaincy, Pakistan Won T20 World Cup

The best moment in the career of Younis Khan is definitely the T20 World Cup in 2009 in England. After a bad start, Pakistan got the momentum and eventually lift the World Cup at Lords. Younis Khan became the first and so far only Pakistani captain to lift the T20 World Cup

5- Consecutive Century Against Australia

In the first test match during test series between Pakistan and Australia in UAE, Younis Khan’s batting class  was its peak, he scored a hundred in both the inning of the test match. He was only the first player in last 40 years who scored hundreds in the both innings against Australia.

6- Double Century Against England In England

In 2015 when Pakistan toured England, it was their first series in England after the infamous incident of spot fixing in 2010. Younis Khan was in a horrible form throughout the series and people have started talking that he should take a retirement from cricket. But Younis Khan silenced his critics with a brilliant double century in the fourth and last test match.

7- 5th century in the Fourth Inning

During the last and deciding test match, Younis Khan made a breathtaking 171 not out which help Pakistan to win the test series. This was his 5th century in the fourth inning of a test match, most by any player in the world.

8- Run Out on 199 Against India in Lahore

Younis Khan was run out on 199 against India in Lahore when he had a terrible mix-up with Shahid Afridi on the other end. It was the second time in the series when Younis Khan was dismissed in 190s.

9- 175 Not Out  Against Australia In Australia

In the 3rd and final test match against Australia in Sydney during 2017 tour, Younis Khan yet another brilliant century against Australia, his first on Australian soil. This was one of the special century of his career as in this process, he not only made his 34th test century but he also became the first and only cricketer in the history of test cricket to score a test century in all 11 test hosting counties.

10- Passed 10000 Test Runs

During the first test match against West Indies, Younis Khan became the first Pakistani cricketer and 13th overall to complete 10,000 runs in test. This was also Younis Khan’s last test series as he has announced his retirement from international cricket just before the start of the series.
